Culture influences every aspect of our lives, both personally and professionally. It shapes our beliefs, values, and how we experience the world, including our emotions. As clinicians, understanding how culture impacts our interactions with clients, and how it shapes their lived experiences, is central to the work we do.
It allows us to take a more intentional approach to connection, ensuring that our clients truly feel seen, heard, and valued.
At Bridgeview Clinical Services, we don’t just embrace the rich histories of our clients, we also celebrate the diverse stories of our team. Cultural awareness and appreciation are embedded in our core values and reflect our deep belief that every story matters.
Honoring Karva Chauth: A Tradition of Love and Faith
Today, I celebrate a tradition I’ve honored for the past 25 years, Karva Chauth. It’s one I’ve chosen to share with my team, modeling the inclusive and accepting environment we strive to create.
Karva Chauth, observed this year on October 10, 2025, is a sacred festival celebrated by married Indian women who fast from dawn until moonrise for the health, happiness, and long life of their husbands.
The day is filled with meaningful rituals including the pre-dawn Sargi (a meal shared before sunrise), applying Mehendi (henna), evening puja (prayers), and reciting the Karva Chauth Katha, which tells the story behind the fast. The celebration culminates in breaking the fast after sighting the moon.
More than a ritual, Karva Chauth is an act of deep emotional connection, faith, and perseverance. It represents devotion, love, and unity. It is a quiet yet powerful expression of commitment that has been passed down for generations.

Creating Space for Cultural Expression
At Bridgeview, we believe that vulnerability and cultural expression are essential parts of healing. Yes, vulnerability can feel scary, and the uncertainty of being accepted for who we are is real. But every small act of sharing builds trust and creates space for authenticity.
There is a quiet beauty in this process. It unfolds in our sessions, in our relationships, and in our shared commitment to creating safe spaces. This is what acceptance looks like and what we continue to build, together.
When we celebrate traditions like Karva Chauth, we’re doing more than observing a ritual. We’re acknowledging the importance of identity, belonging, and human connection. It’s a reminder that culture can be a bridge — one that deepens understanding and fosters love and respect.
Every story matters here at Bridgeview Clinical Services.
And every celebration, every tradition, and every shared experience brings us closer as a team, as clinicians, and as people.
